Holistic Veterinary Medicine for pets
A licensed veterinarian who combines conventional diagnosis and treatment with integrative approaches such as acupuncture, herbs, nutrition, and rehabilitation.
A holistic (integrative) veterinarian is fully licensed and practices conventional medicine, including diagnosis, diagnostics, prescriptions, and surgery referral, while also using complementary tools such as veterinary acupuncture, herbal medicine, therapeutic nutrition, and rehabilitation. Visits tend to be longer and more history-focused. Owners commonly consult one for chronic disease, senior care, cancer support alongside oncology, or a more conservative treatment plan.
What to expect: A first consult often runs 45 to 90 minutes: full history, diet and lifestyle review, exam, and any diagnostics needed. You leave with a plan that may combine medication, nutrition, acupuncture or herbs, rehab, and monitoring. Because they are your vet, or co-managing with your vet, prescriptions, records, and referrals work normally.
Good fit for: You want conventional medicine and integrative options from one licensed vet, You have a chronic or complex case that needs time, You want complementary care done safely, with drug interactions checked, You value diet and lifestyle as part of the plan
Not the right fit if: An acute emergency. Go to your regular or emergency vet now, You want to avoid conventional diagnostics or medication entirely, You are seeking a specific alternative remedy rather than veterinary judgment, The cost of longer consults and diagnostics is not workable right now
Complementary care, not veterinary medicine. For an emergency, contact your veterinarian.
