Biofield Tuning
A biofield-oriented approach often explored for relaxation and a different perspective on stress patterns.
Biofield Tuning, developed by Eileen McKusick, uses tuning forks in and around the body's biofield — the electromagnetic field around the body — to identify areas of incoherence and support regulation. It is a non-diagnostic, non-invasive approach with a specific theoretical framework. The mechanism is not scientifically established, and the evidence base is limited.
Sound-based work with the biofield, explored for relaxation and a shift in stress patterns.
What to expect: Sessions are typically 60 minutes, done fully clothed. The practitioner uses tuning forks in specific patterns around and on the body. Some people report sensory experiences, emotional shifts, or a sense of release. This is an experiential approach — results vary considerably between individuals. 3–5 sessions is a reasonable starting point. After that, reflect on what you have noticed — in sessions and in daily life — and talk with your practitioner about whether continued sessions feel useful.
Good fit for: You are open to energy-based and non-conventional approaches, You want to try something significantly different from mainstream options, You are looking for a complementary, experiential practice, You do not require scientific validation to explore an approach
Explore for: Curiosity about biofield or energy-based approaches, Stress or tension that has not responded to other methods, A sense of imbalance or feeling out of sync, Interest in sound-based approaches, Openness to non-conventional frameworks
Not the right fit if: You need evidence-based treatment for a condition, You are skeptical of approaches without established mechanisms, You are dealing with serious medical or mental health concerns, You have had recent surgery, cancer, or are pregnant (consult first)
