Health coaching provides accountability, structure, and practical guidance to support people in making and sustaining health-related changes. It focuses on behavior and lifestyle — not on diagnosis or clinical treatment. A good health coach helps you clarify what matters, remove barriers, and build consistency.
Structured support for building and sustaining practical health habits.
What to expect: Sessions are typically 30–60 minutes, often weekly or biweekly. The focus is on specific, practical goals and what is getting in the way of achieving them. Between-session work is usually expected. The relationship is collaborative and forward-looking. Most people see meaningful change in habits after 8–12 consistent sessions. Check in with your coach every 4 sessions about what is working and what is getting in the way — this keeps the relationship accountable and the goals realistic.

Not the right fit if: You need clinical or medical support, You are dealing with significant mental health concerns, You want open-ended exploration without specific goals, You are looking for diagnosis or treatment
How to choose a practitioner: Look for a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) — this is the most rigorous US credential Ask about their specific approach and what a typical session looks like A good health coach will refer out when concerns fall outside their scope
