Life Coaching
General, goal-oriented coaching focused on clarity, direction, and follow-through across any area of life.
Life coaching is a general, goal-oriented coaching practice focused on helping you get clear on what you want and build follow-through toward it, without being tied to a specific specialty like burnout, career transition, or executive function. This is a broader, generalist listing distinct from the specialty coaching types also found here (Health Coaching, Transition Coaching, Executive Function Coaching, and others), which fit if your focus is narrower and more specific.
Goal-oriented coaching for clarity, direction, and follow-through.
What to expect: Sessions typically run 45–60 minutes, often weekly or biweekly, and start with defining what you want to work on and how you'll measure progress. Coaching is action- and goal-oriented, expect to leave most sessions with something concrete to try before the next one. Life coaching isn't therapy and doesn't address clinical mental health concerns, a good coach will be clear about that distinction and refer out when needed.
Good fit for: You want general accountability and structure across broad life goals, You're not looking for a narrow specialty like burnout or executive function specifically, You do well with regular check-ins and concrete action items, You're not currently in need of clinical mental health treatment
Explore for: Feeling unclear about direction across multiple areas of life at once, Wanting general accountability and structure toward personal goals, A desire for consistent check-ins to keep momentum going, Not having a narrow enough focus yet for a specialty coach, Wanting a thinking partner for decisions that don't fit a specific category
Not the right fit if: Your primary concern is a diagnosable mental health condition, a licensed therapist is the right first step, You already know your goal is narrow and specific (a specialty coach may serve you better), You want deep emotional processing rather than forward-focused, action-oriented conversation, You're looking for someone with a clinical license rather than a coaching credential
How to choose a practitioner: Look for certification through the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the most widely recognized coaching credential Ask about their coaching style, some are highly structured, others more conversational A good coach will tell you directly if your concern is better suited to a therapist
