Shiatsu
A hands-on approach using pressure and body-based techniques to support balance and relaxation.
Shiatsu is a Japanese bodywork tradition that uses thumb, palm, and finger pressure along pathways associated with traditional East Asian medicine. The goal is to support balance, ease tension, and encourage the body toward relaxation. It shares conceptual roots with acupressure but is applied more systematically across the whole body.
Rhythmic pressure and touch rooted in Japanese bodywork tradition.
What to expect: Sessions are typically 60 minutes, done fully clothed on a floor mat or low table. Pressure is applied along the body's meridian pathways. The work can feel firm in places but should not be painful. Many people find it deeply calming. A good practitioner will work with your feedback throughout. Most people benefit from 4–6 initial sessions to get a sense of how Shiatsu affects them. Check in with your practitioner after the first few about your goals and what you're noticing — that conversation helps both of you assess fit.
