Transition Coaching
Structured coaching for navigating major life changes, identity shifts, and uncertain next steps.
Transition coaching focuses on the specific challenges of navigating major life changes — career shifts, relationship transitions, relocation, loss, or identity re-evaluation. Transitions are often disorienting because they involve letting go of one structure before the next has formed. A good transition coach holds space for both the uncertainty and the movement.
Structured support for navigating life transitions, decisions, and what comes next.
What to expect: Sessions are typically 45–60 minutes, usually every two weeks. The work involves making sense of where you are, clarifying where you want to go, and developing practical steps — while also holding the emotional reality of being in transition. Transition coaching is typically shorter-term — 8–16 sessions covering the arc of a specific transition. Check in with your coach at the midpoint about what has become clearer, what decisions feel more settled, and what you still need to work through.
Good fit for: You are in the middle of or entering a significant transition, You want both practical guidance and room to process, You are generally functional and not in clinical distress, You want support that holds the uncertainty of transition without rushing it
Explore for: Navigating a career change or leaving a long-held role, A major life shift that has disrupted your sense of identity, Feeling between chapters with unclear next steps, Decision-making during a period of significant change, Wanting both structure and space to process the transition
Not the right fit if: You need clinical support for grief, depression, or anxiety, You are in acute crisis, You want only action planning without exploration, You need help with a specific technical skill (career coaching is different from transition coaching)
How to choose a practitioner: Look for coaches with ICF credentials and specific experience with life transitions Ask how they distinguish between transition coaching and therapy — a good coach will know the boundary Choose someone whose approach balances structure with openness
